I don’t just want people to learn and achieve better results, I want them to have fun and come out motivated to do more and go further.
My approach is lively, participatory and aims to create discussion and debate. It is a two-way approach.
I’m driven by the conviction that any communication needs to be be clear and easy to understand, even when tackling difficult subjects.
I have had a highly varied career, with a thread of communication, media and training runs throughout. I’ve been a broadcast journalist, and worked in global development and health communication.
I spent over 10 years with the BBC World Service, most with their international charity, BBC Media Action. I’ve worked with charities, like the HIV and sexual health organisation Terrence Higgins Trust. I set up a life, sex and relationships radio show in India and I read the news on radio in Thailand. Recently I’ve been working at the University of Oxford, with Oxford Population Health and the Oxford Vaccine Group.
I’ve bring a unique set of experience and skills to my work.
I’ve designed, developed and managed health communication, media development and public engagement initiatives in countries ranging from the UK to Afghanistan, Myanmar, Bangladesh, Ethiopia and South Sudan and elsewhere. And I’ve trained and advised colleagues globally.
I’ve got experience working across numerous health issues. This includes vaccination, HIV and sexual health, Ebola, water, hygiene and sanitation, nutrition, and maternal and child health. And I’ve worked on health research, including clinical trials. I also have experience, through voluntary work, of working with asylum seekers and refugees. I’m trained to teach English as a foreign language.
I thrive working with energised, motivated people, who want to make a positive difference through their work. If that sounds like you, Engage!
